This should already be fixed by #149, do you prefer the container version or switch of macos runner? |

When I tried the new macos runner, it didn't work - they might have dropped support for python 3.6 and 3.7 even on the new runner? EDIT: I see some very recent successful runs of backport tests for #149, so it looks like that will work for now. I don't have a strong preference, though I think GH actions is going to drop all support for intel mac at some point. |

I had a look and this builds don't take significantly longer and seem the more stable solution, so I think we should merge this anyway. |

use container for very old python versions (macos-13 not available anymore)
