This is a work-in-progress pull-request to test how vitepress could be used before starting a full migration.
Initial work was done in #1977
Sphinx and the rtd theme are having some drawbacks in terms of accessibility, language selection, search and sidebar content. Although some issues can be kinda solved by work-arounds, it still would be beneficial to have an out of the box support by the docs framework at some point.
