🖥 About Muse

Muse is a modern music player built mainly for Linux, but it also works on Windows. It focuses on streaming YouTube Music without the distractions of a browser. The app is easy to use and helps you listen to your favorite songs or playlists with a simple interface.

Muse works best on Windows 10 or later. It requires an internet connection to stream music since it pulls tracks from YouTube. It does not store music files on your computer.

🚀 Getting Started with Muse on Windows

This guide walks you through downloading and running Muse on your Windows computer. No programming skills are needed.

Step 1: Visit the Download Page

Start by visiting the Muse project page on GitHub.

Step 2: Download the Installer

On the GitHub page, find the “Releases” section. Look for the latest version of Muse for Windows. The file you want will usually have a name ending in .exe.

Click the link for the Windows installer to download the file to your computer.

Step 3: Run the Installer

Once the download finishes, open the file you downloaded.

  • Double-click the .exe file
  • If a User Account Control prompt appears, click “Yes” to allow Muse to install
  • Follow the on-screen prompts: accept the license, choose the install location (default is fine)
  • Click “Install” to begin the process
  • When the installation completes, click “Finish” to close the installer

Step 4: Launch Muse

Find the Muse shortcut on your desktop or in the Start menu.

  • Double-click the icon to open the app
  • The first time you run Muse, it may take a few moments to set up
  • After launching, you will see the main window with music search and playback options

🎼 Using Muse

After installation, you can start listening to music immediately.

Search for Music

  • Type the artist, album, or song name in the search box at the top
  • Press “Enter” or click the search button
  • Browse results and select a song or playlist to play

Playback Controls

Use these buttons at the bottom of the window:

  • Play / Pause
  • Next track
  • Previous track
  • Repeat and shuffle options

Create Playlists

  • Click the “+” button near the playlists section
  • Name your playlist
  • Add songs by right-clicking a track and selecting “Add to playlist”

Settings

Access settings from the gear icon to adjust:

  • Audio output device
  • Theme preferences (light or dark mode)
  • Network settings for streaming quality

🔧 Troubleshooting

If Muse does not start or crashes:

  • Make sure your Windows is up to date
  • Check your internet connection
  • Restart your computer and try again
  • Reinstall Muse by downloading the installer again

If audio does not play:

  • Verify your speakers or headphones are properly connected and turned on
  • Check the volume settings inside Muse and on your PC
  • Make sure no other app is blocking sound output
