summary: "OpenSats receives a recurring donation from Bitwise for open-source Bitcoin development."
---

We are pleased to announce that OpenSats has received a recurring donation from
the Bitwise Bitcoin ETF (ticker: [BITB]), as part of their [ongoing commitment]
to support Bitcoin open-source development.

When Bitwise launched BITB in 2024, they [pledged to donate 10% of gross
profits] each year to organizations supporting the Bitcoin ecosystem. Today,
we're honored to be one of three recipients, alongside [Brink] and the Human
Rights Foundation's [Bitcoin Development Fund], to share in this year's \$233,000
donation to support open-source developers who maintain and improve critical software
in the Bitcoin ecosystem.

As a 501(c)(3) public charity, OpenSats directs 100% of donations to [our funds]
to support free and open-source projects, while separate contributions to our
[Operations Budget] cover administrative expenses. This recurring support from
Bitwise to our General Fund strengthens our ability to channel resources
directly to developers, researchers, educators, and maintainers building
critical Bitcoin infrastructure.

>Bitcoin is changing the world, and Bitwise will always strive to do our part to
>be a good steward of this incredible ecosystem.

We are grateful to Bitwise for delivering on their promise to reinvest BITB's
growth directly back into the ecosystem that powers it. Their leadership among
Bitcoin ETF issuers sets an important example for the industry, and we hope
others will follow suit in supporting the open-source software that makes
Bitcoin possible.

If you share our commitment to free and open-source software for Bitcoin and
freedom tech, you can support us by making a recurring donation.
