I would think so (IMS has already ported sodium to vulkan (saw it in a discord post)) |

I'd assume there'd probably be room for improvement on the official vulkan implementation and there might still be room for a mod like this, though if Sodium is working with vulkan as the other comment says, contributing there might be a more better option. I loved vulkanmod and I'd hope to still see the developer(s) contributing to more! but also this could be a well deserved break |

Vulkanmod isn't just switching the rendering engine from opengl to vulkan. It's a complete rewrite of the rendering engine. And vulkanmod uses it's own set of optimization. So as far as I'm aware Mojang switching to vulkan is a good thing for vulkanmod. Because then the dev doesn't have to fight with the upstream changes as much. It should also make a lot of mod compatible with vulkanmod since then they have adapt to vulkan. But let's see what happens in the future. |

As stated in this article, Minecraft Java will officially be migrating to Vulkan in the summer: https://www.minecraft.net/en-us/article/another-step-towards-vibrant-visuals-for-java-edition
Do we think VulkanMod will wind down development?
