[Feature Request]: GUI Toggle for Cookie Notice Filters (Cookie Notices -EasyList/uBO/AdGuard) #3935
-
|
Problem Description uBlock Origin blocks cookie banners primarily via the filter list Functionally, this is equivalent to my extensions However, unlike IDCAC/ISDCAC, this functionality in uBlock Origin is not toggleable via the main UI. When cookie-related filter rules break a website, the current options are:
Both options are cumbersome and impractical for quick troubleshooting. Requested Feature Add a dedicated toggle in the main popup UI, for example: “Block cookie notices (EasyList/uBO)” ON / OFF Affects only cookie-notice-related filters, not other lists Global toggle; per-site toggle or whitelist would be a plus but not required Optional but desirable: A report mechanism, similar to IDCAC/ISDCAC Rationale / Benefits Feature parity with established cookie-banner extensions Faster diagnosis and mitigation of site breakage Avoids unnecessary full uBO deactivation Improves UX without changing filter logic or default behavior Summary A simple visible toggle for cookie-notice filters would improve day-to-day usability of uBlock Origin, with no security or performance downsides. Thank you for considering this request. — |

Any filter list can potentially cause breakage, so it doesn't make sense to add a toggle in the popup UI for just a specific list. And "Cookie Notices" lists aren't enabled by default. Specific filter lists can be easily and quickly enabled/disabled from the Filter lists pane. The proper way to diagnose filter issues is to use the tools provided by uBO, specifically the logger and DOM inspector. |

The Logger is the tool you should use to fix filter list issues. You can make temporary exceptions to find tge filter that's causing issues and make a new exception filter to disable it for the time being. Then you can report the site/filter to us so we can fix it for everybody. |

Well i agree and i should have searched for general block/toogles. I was only looking for cookie issues, sorry. Still i would argue that at least in my experience nearly all of my (rare) site-breakage is caused by cookie-blocks today. Over 10y ago when i started using ublock there were many broken sites due to ublock and you had to fiddle around a bit. Nowadays its rarely the case which is great. And there were much lesser toogles than 10 toogles which are now present. Btw, the only one that i occasionally use is the zapping feat. Also, i respectfully believe these points remain valid:
To my understanding its technical complicated to implement this, as i quickly browsed the duplicates. To be constructive, what if we could implement a checkbox in the filter-list for a customized toogle and activate that in the settings? Opt-in only for advanced users. If GUI-change is a no-go, maybe a keyboard shortcut and custom GUI only for a future consideration. It would solve all the duplicates for years and wouldn't affect the regular user. A neat addition w/o changing much and improving UX. Ty all. PS.: The logger and DOM inspector are great for advanced uBO users, but most everyday users wouldn’t be able to use them and people in my family eg. including me wouldn’t even know where to start. |

Yes, given that, the OP's feature request here is to have a possibility to selectively disable/enable specific filter lists on specific sites, therefore it's a duplicate of:
