<h3>Computer Science</h3>
<p>The Department has been functioning since the inception of the college in 1995.
One of the largest computer science departments under the University of Calicut,
the PG Course was started in 2001, with10 seats. The department has a pass
percentage of 100 in almost all the years. Two out of the Nine faculty members
are Ph.D holders and the rest of the faculty members are pursuing their research.
The department has produced quality professionals, holding important positions
in Information Technology industry in India and abroad. Our notable alumni members
have been excelling in key posts in various reputed organizations. Our students
have also been pursuing research in reputed universities and institutions. The department
conducts National seminars almost every year inviting eminent resource persons from the educational
and industrial fields. The department is recognized as a Research Centre during 2018-19. In order to
inculcate research and innovation in the field of computing, a special research room with lab is setup
under the Department of Computer Science. Besides academic courses and soft skills training, research
and innovations are given due importance. Remedial coaching to the weak students has improved the
academic performance of weaker students.</p>

<h3>Broadcasting & Journalism</h3>
<p>The college has started two B Voc degree programmes during the year 2014-15. Sanctioned by the University
Grants Commission (UGC), this newly designed, novel graduate programme - Bachelor of Vocation programme -
is a part of Commission’s effort to promote skill development based higher education, incorporating specific
job rule under the National Skill Qualification Frame work (NSQF). </p>
<p> Similar to conventional degree programmes, B.Voc follows the pattern of three year credit and semester system.
But, unlike other graduate programmes, B.Voc offers multiple entry and exit options. Students who are completing
the first year will be getting a diploma, and an advanced diploma after the second year and a degree certificate
on completion of the entire three year programme.</p>
<p>The department is offering a three year B.Voc Programme in Broadcasting & Journalism with an intake of 50
students. The College has created linkages and signed MoUs with various media organizations for the skill
training of the students.</p>

<h3>English</h3>
<p>The department has been functioning with a B A Programme since the inception of the college. The student
intake is 40. The M.A. English Course began in 2003 with a student intake of 20. The department has Five
permanent teachers and Six guest faculties.</p>
<p>The department has organised several national and international seminars and symposia over the past few years.
Two day National Seminar on Media and its Current Significations during November 2013, Two day National Seminar
on Politics and Poetics of Representation in 2016 are a few to mention. The International Coloquium
on Creative Teaching and Learning in Higher Education organized between December 12-14, was another prestigious
event organized by the Department. Erudite Lecture by Prof. Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak, world renowned scholar,
theorist and professor of English at Columbia University, was the major highlight of the three day colloquim.
The department has a full-fledged Department Library and a Lecture Hall with public address system.</p>

<h3>Languages</h3>
<p>Arabic, Malayalam and Hindi departments have been functioning since the inception of the college. These
departments function as additional faculties to BA / BSc / BCom / B.Voc Degree courses. The faculty conducts
various programmes to improve language skills of students. Dr. Haskerali E C, Head of Department of Malayalam
Department has published two books titled ‘Mappila Vasantham’, and ‘Samskaravum Nagarikathayum’.
Dr. Jabir Amani, Head of the Department of Arabic, has written and published four text books in Arabic,
a book for B.A. Arabic (Afzal -Ul-Ulama) and B.Com II Semester, University of Calicut. He was awarded Ph.D in
2016.</p>

<h3>Physics</h3>
<p>The department started with B.Sc course in 1999. The student intake is 40. The PG course started in 2004 and has 12 seats.
The faculty includes four permanent teachers and 3 guest lecturers. Department maintains 100% result al-most every year.
The students of the department win first prizes in the National Level Essay Presentation Contest prganized
by BARC, Mumbai, almost every year. A material Sciences lab also been setup under the department for promoting
research among students in this area. Department regularly organizes seminars and conferences and conducts Open
House Programme as part of the Science Day Celebrations every year. Dr. Mohemmed Shanid. N.A published 3 papers
in international publications.</p>

<h3>Physical Education</h3>
<p>Areekode is known for its fame in football as well as educational revolution.
Hundreds of international, national, university, state, clubs and district football
players hailed from this village on the bank of river Chaliyar. Establishment of a
college in the year 1995 in this village has added further fuel for the development
of Football as well as other sports activities in general in general.
Department of Physical education started functioning since the
inception of the college without much sports infrastructural facilities. But now
within 25 years, the college has a Football stadium with gallery, indoor stadium,
multipurpose court, badminton court, multi gym and table tennis hall.
The college achieved medals and championships in international,
national, state, university and district level competitions.</p>

<h3>Mathematics</h3>
<p>FACULTY OF MATHEMATICS B.Sc Mathematics Course started since the inception of the college in 1995. The student intake is 48.
The PG course was sanctioned in 2004 with 20 seats. The department includes three permanent staff and six guest lecturers.
All the three permanent staff, Dr Sajith, Dr. Fazeela and Dr. Sameeha Rahmani have published papers in International and
National journals. The department conducts Seminars and Workshops regularly</p>

<h3>Commerce</h3>
<p>COMMERCE The college started functioning in 1995 with undergraduate courses in arts and science. With the dawn
of the academic year 2006-07, the college inaugurated the functioning of the department of Commerce under the
self financing sector The student intake is 40. The department conducted a UGC sponsored National Venture Capital
Summit-Sanaabil in January 2011. In 2014, the department strated M.Com Course in the aided sector The student
intake is 20. In the acdemic year 2013-14, the department conducted two UGC sponsered National Seminars.</p>

<h3>Economics</h3>
<p>The College started offering B.A. Economics in 2013 in the Self-financing sector. The student intake is 40.
In 2014, Government of Kerala sanctioned BA Economics programme in the aided sector and college converted the
existing programme from self-financing to aided sector. Since the Governement hasn't created any permanent
teaching post in the department, appointment has been made on contract basis. Presently 3 full time teachers

<h3>SS Library</h3>
<p>The college library, started 1996, situated in the central part of the campus is one among fully automated
notable libraries focused on quality based collection and best services in Kerala. The Library is a member
in the N-list Programme under INFLIBNET. Including the Digital Library all functions of the library is developed
in the light of S.R Ranganathan`s theory of `Five Laws of Library Science`. All days except sundays and public
holidays are working days from 8.30am to 5.00pm.
</p>
<p> Digital Library is available in the all Departments of the College, Women Resource Centre, Computer Labs and
Language Lab through Campus Network . Separate sections are arranged for the users especially in Reference
Service, Career Guidance Corner, Comparative Religion, Bound volumes of the Journals, CD Bank, Question Bank,
Subject Books.</p>

<h3>Multi Gym </h3>
<p>SS College is providing better facilities for Sports and Games. Every year Annual Sports is being conducted
in the college. We are providing excellent facilities for sports. We are giving equal preference to sports
and games along with the academic activities. We are acquiring SS College has well trained professional foot
ball team. We also won many titles in various foot ball tournaments. SS College is maintaining a Multi
propose stadium with 200 Meter track as well as a Football and Cricket ground. Many football as well as cricket
tournaments are held in this stadium. The college has 2 badminton courts, Table Tennis court and a Lawn Tennis
Court where students and staffs are practicing daily.</p>

<h3>Computing Technology</h3>
<p>We have a central computing facility called Network Center, located centrally consisting of more than
148 computers. This is functional from morning 9 am to evening 5 pm with the assistance of the staff.
All the computers are connected to internet through 2 BSNL fibre optic connections of 100 MBps speed
and controlled by cyberoam CR 35iNG firewall.</p>
