Support for `Timer` mode

Isn't that expected? I think the water_heater.smart_boiler_9731 is the entity itself so not sure if states() can output anything meaningful for it.

As for smart_boiler_9731_s_heater, this makes sense since this is a specific sensor object that tracks whether a boiler's heater is turned on or off - it has this single state.

Hi, i will try to explain my issue.
The smart boiler has multiple states/modes: "off", electric, eco, high_demand and Timers.
The frontent entity water_heater.smart_boiler_9731 is displaying the correct state, except when the boiler is running in Timer mode. It will then allways display State Unknown while the boiler sensor sensor.smart_boiler_9731_s_heater is displaying the correct corresponding value, on or off. My question is, is it possible, that when the boiler is running in Timer mode, the water_heater entity is showing the state as determined by the sensor sensor.smart_boiler_9731_s_heater, so it will allways be displayed correctly on the entity card in the frontend?
Also, timer operation is not an option in the operation list, Is it possible to add this option to the list?

Okay, I got your point.

You're saying there's an Eldom boiler mode that is not supported by this integration in HA. And that mode is Timer.

Sadly, HA doesn't support any similar mode for its water heater entity: https://developers.home-assistant.io/docs/core/entity/water-heater/#states.

So, in order to achieve this, I'd have to somehow figure out a way to create a custom mode and attach an icon to it, etc.

On second though, I can probably just make it display Electric instead of Unknown when it's in this Timer mode. That should be correct given the timer mode just enables the standard heating mode of the boiler.

@Chrisjacobs62, which one would you prefer out of the two options?

• (If possible) Have some custom mode being displayed like Timer when the boiler is running in the Timer mode.
• Have it just display Electric instead of Unknown when the boiler is enabled by a timer.

Hi Daniel,
thanks for your quick response. I prefer the option to display Timer since this is actual state. It would be completly perfect if you can combine it with the state of the sensor, so Timer_on or Timer_off.
