Timestamps for Properties

Is there a way to represent "time" for a property that changes over time, similar to how accumulo uses timestamps?  

For example, let's say I have a baseball player that has a property "hits" that keeps track of the number of hits a player has each game.  So I would want to set the "hits" property multiple times, and would like to keep track of the day that that occurred.
