Dark mode highlighting issues?

I had a few students using Windows 11 in dark mode, the code window was odd looking, the textbox itself was in light mode, but any keywords highlighted were in dark mode (i.e. the text was black-on-white text, but keywords would be color-on-black). Switching to light mode fixes it. I'd imagine it's not a PyBlox specific bug, but it might be worth seeing if there's a known issue (or new version) of darkdetect or similar.

Yeah, that sounds like one of the fun platform-specific behaviors of the so-called platform-independent Tkinter.

The theming code is mostly custom (default is very poor), and it looks good on mac, so I'll just need to test/tweak on Windows. They probably just use a different default that I'll need to override like the others. Hopefully I'll see the same issue on my old windows laptop, cause that's the only windows machine I have.

Annoyingly, it might be a W11 thing. I haven't checked, but I suspect they might have set the dark/light mode to "auto" so it might not be detected as 100% in either.

Saman has it on Ubuntu, so it's not Windows only.

I guess mac looking good in dark mode might be the outlier then. On mint it doesn't seem to be able to detect the system theme, but I can just hard code it to dark mode and see if it looks weird. Hopefully fixing it on linux will also fix it on windows.
