How many engineers does it take to screw in a light bulb?
It should require one humanoid robot, and thousands of person hours of sweat and tears of researchers.

Replacing a light bulb from a ceiling light is a task that a domestic service robot should be able to do.

Describe alternatives you've considered

Reaching an object off the top shelf using a step ladder 🪜 is a good place to start and can be added to the existing rules quickly.

Additional context

Bimanual manipulation and navigating with a large object is part of this task to fetch the step ladder out of a utility closet, which of courses also requires a door.

Nice to imagine this. but i dont think anyone will put their new (and costly) humanoid into onto a ladder if it involves overhead bi-manual manipulation. Does it still look good if it involves mattresses and multiple people securing the robot?

Let them screw them in a light bulb thats easily reachable first and then just put it at the end of a table where the humanoid can lean over or something. You are too focused on (dangerous) height 😅
