Introducing DeviceGuard and DeviceInfo in QuickCapture Android SDK v4.2.26

We are pleased to announce the release of QuickCapture Android SDK v4.2.26, introducing DeviceGuard and DeviceInfo — two core platform modules designed to improve security, automation, compliance, and contextual intelligence in mobile document capture workflows.

These capabilities are applicable across financial services, insurance, government, logistics, healthcare, field operations, and large-scale enterprise applications, wherever document authenticity and capture context are critical.

Note: Version v4.2.25 has been intentionally skipped to align with internal versioning.

DeviceGuard — Zero-Trust Security for Mobile Capture

DeviceGuard is a pre-capture security engine that validates device integrity before allowing sensitive document capture operations. It enforces a Zero-Trust device model, ensuring that capture is blocked if the runtime environment is compromised or manipulated.

Core Capabilities

• Root Detection
  Identifies rooted devices (su, Magisk) and blocks capture on compromised systems.

• Emulator Detection
  Detects simulated environments commonly used for automation abuse or fraudulent capture.

• Mock Location / Fake GPS Detection
  Flags software-generated locations to prevent fake site visits, false inspections, or location fraud.

• Environment Integrity Checks
  Detects:

  • USB Debugging (ADB)
  • Developer Options
  • Active VPN connections

• Screen Protection for Sensitive Data
  Prevents screenshots and screen recording using FLAG_SECURE, ensuring sensitive data is not exposed during capture or review.

• Real-Time Threat Monitoring
  Continuously monitors the runtime environment and notifies the application if security conditions change during an active session.

Hardware and System Profiling (Synchronous)

Instant access to:

• Device manufacturer and model
• Android OS version and API level
• CPU hardware information
• Total RAM and available storage
• Battery level and charging status
• Screen density (DPI)

This information helps applications dynamically adapt capture behavior and diagnose device-specific issues at scale.

Location Intelligence with Offline DigiPin Support

DeviceInfo returns a unified location dataset that includes:

• GPS latitude, longitude, and accuracy
• Network-based postal PIN code
• Offline DigiPin generation (India Post Digital Addressing System)

DigiPin generation works fully offline, providing reliable, standardized location identifiers even in remote or low-connectivity environments.

Smart Location Fallback

• Attempts high-accuracy GPS fixes first
• Automatically falls back to network-based location when GPS is unavailable

DigiPin Utility APIs

• Generate DigiPin directly from known coordinates (synchronous)
• Retrieve only the DigiPin without requesting full location metadata (asynchronous)

These utilities support address normalization, backend validation, and regional classification without reliance on third-party geocoding APIs.
