One pixel boundary at the frame edges on Viewer and in Export #511

DESCRIBE THE BUG:

This has been happening for a long time now.

This bug is probably related - but not exactly the same:

Basically, Final Cut Pro will incorrectly have a 1 pixel boundary at the frame edges on Viewer and in Export.

This happens fairly regularly when you have 4K Multicam clips in a HD timeline.

But it can also happen when you have 720p clips in a HD timeline.

For example, I just thrown a heap of random footage onto a 1920x1080 25p timeline (with all Spatial Conform set to Fit) - notice all the outlines:

It seems there's some rounding error in Final Cut Pro's sizing logic?

This can happen without any effects on the clip, but also still happens when you have effects on the clip.

TO REPRODUCE:

Throw a bunch of footage of various aspect ratios and frame rates into a 1920x1080 25p timeline.

EXPECTED BEHAVIOUR:

Not have an outline/border.

SPECS:

  • 2021 16-inch MacBook Pro (M1 Max, 64GB RAM, 8TB SSD)
  • macOS Sonoma 26.2
  • Final Cut Pro 12.0.0
